Gender Reveal Fundraiser

Meet Sami our newest Ambassador.

Samuel or is it Samantha is non releasable due to an injury to his or her wing that caused flight to be impaired.  If released Sami wouldn't be able to fend for his or herself.  Needless to say Sami now has a home with us.

We thought we'd have some fun with the community before we reveal if Sami is a he or she.  For a donation of $20.00 you can cast a guess as to Sami's gender.

On may 31st at 11am we will announce via video Sami's gender and pull three names from the list of donors.  The first name pulled will be gifted a Wings Rescue Center t-shirt.  The second will be gifted a picture personally autographed by Sami.  The final name will be gifted an autographed picture and an opportunity to accompany WRC on a release of a wild bird that has been rehabilitated.

All funds raised will be used for the care of our Ambassadors.

(The bird to be released will be determined upon what we currently have that is fully rehabilitated.  It could be a songbird or shorebird and location is determined by the species. Please see the event page for further information.)

About Us

The Coastal Bend is home to an amazing variety of birds – some native, some migratory, many threatened and endangered. Wings Rescue Center is a State and Federal permitted bird rescue rehabilitation center serving Aransas County and surrounding counties.

WRC cares for injured, orphaned and ill birds with the goal of returning them to the wild. The Center is comprised of two care centers and multiple cages and enclosures, including a raptor area, each designed to facilitate the rehabilitation of wild birds large and small, from hummingbirds to pelicans.

WRC's  facility in South Texas takes in abandoned eggs and baby birds.

With the generous community support, Wings volunteers continue to work tirelessly to give birds a second chance at life in the wild.

Our Ambassadors

Our Mission is to

  • To provide 2 facilities for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of our Coastal Bend non-migratory and migratory wild birds. One specifically for small birds including a nursery for abandoned eggs and orphaned hatchlings until they are able to survive on their own. The other to be specifically for raptors including various flight cages for their needs.

  • To bring together volunteers who possess a wide range of skills and experience that share compassion for avian welfare. To have those volunteers comprise 100% of the staffing needed to fill the many roles to successfully operate a wild bird rescue center. These include Rescue, Rehabilitation, Release and Education.

  • To expand public awareness of the need for and benefit of wild bird conservation through educational programs and hands-on experiences with the native and migratory birds found in the Coastal Bend. To perform programs/presentations both in our Education Center on site and at other local organization’s sites.

  • To create a team of Ambassador/Education birds that focuses on teaching our youth about the species, conservation of the species and environment while at the same time creating a love of birding at an early age.

  • To always perform the goals of our moto: Rescue, Rehab, Release & Education
